Bobby Joe Southard, Good 0l Boy' was Born October 15, 1929, at home, weighing 4 1/2 pounds to Lillian Faye and Alvin Dewey Southard in Pauls Valley, OK. He was 1/32 Cherokee on his mothers side. He was the oldest of 7 children. His oldest sibling passed of sudden infant death 1928. Bob showed Unconditional Love! He loved the Good Lord as he would say, "Believe in the Good Lord". His wife, 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and countless friends will be missing his sweet spirit and presence. He believed in the sanctity of marriage and always had a positive outlook. He wanted everyone to be happy, never argued and very seldom spoke what was on his mind. His favorite sayings were, "The Good Lord made you that way so that is that." "Lock and latch it." "I'll whiz right over." Bob was given an honorable discharged from the Army, he was never reclassified as having been active from 1953-55 in the Army. He proceeded to Tarkio College as a pre-engineering student (electrical). That summer he went to the U of A to complete pre-requisites in Calculus A and B before he was to return to NW Missouri State. He worked for Hughes while attending the U of A and at the same time purchased a furnished house at 2321 E Hawthorne where lived there with friends. The group purchased an Aeronca Chief, single engine, two seat, light aircraft in 1957 for about $1,100.00 which they flew out of Ryan Field. Some of his other Jobs include Pan American World Airways at Fort Huachuca as an equipment trainer, Atlantic Research of Texas Paige Communications Engineers at Cape Canaveral, Washington DC with Fredrick Research R&D Lab as facilities manager calibrating test equipment. Bob appreciated living in Washington DC because it was short term (Vergie and he took the opportunity to visit a lot of sights). He also worked in Real Estate for Century 21 and Gaming Machines Dictograph Security Systems as Chief Engineer. In 1980 Bob purchased Southern Arizona Roofing Company from Morris Sinks because his friend Bob Seach needed a roof. He owned SARC until 2005 when he retired at the age of 76 for medical reasons. In April 1961 he married his first love Virginia Louise (Vergie). Sadly she passed away in 1981. In February 1983 Bob married Nickola Lou (Kicky). Bob unconditionally loved his 4 children and extended family. A Committal Service will be held on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 10:00 am in the Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Marana with military honors. Arrangements by Adair Funeral Home, Dodge Chapel.
